TREATMENTS

A venous reflux ultrasound is a diagnostic procedure to evaluate the function of veins in the lower extremities. It detects venous reflux, a condition in which blood flows backward in the veins rather than moving toward the heart. This issue can lead to varicose veins, leg swelling, discomfort, spider veins, and non-healing wounds.
Endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) is an innovative, minimally invasive treatment to address varicose veins. Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that commonly develop in the legs and often cause discomfort. During EVLT, a catheter is inserted into the leg near the knee, and a laser fiber is guided through the catheter. Numbing medication is administered along the catheter's path to ensure patient comfort. The laser's heat effectively seals the varicose vein, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins. This process reduces varicose veins and alleviates associated symptoms.
Varithena is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins that involves injecting a specialized medical-grade foam into the affected veins, causing them to close. This procedure typically requires only one or two needle sticks, with no need for incisions or stitches. Treatment is usually completed in less than an hour, and most patients achieve noticeable results after just one session. In clinical trials, only 4% of patients reported discomfort at the injection or application site, making Varithena a well-tolerated and effective option for varicose vein treatment.
